Development of a monitoring system for use when researching the behavior of honeybees.
By developing this new system, it should become significantly easier to identify and observe honeybee behavior. One variation that is specially designed for beekeepers should make it possible to locate the queen bee inside the hive and monitor her vitality. Additional functions are being developed for the field of bee research, including: a data logger for recording the bee’s movements, or measurements for temperature, moisture and other variables at the bee’s location.
The project’s sponsor is the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (ptBLE). The funding is provided through the Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank, which serves as a financial institution for the agricultural and food industry in Germany.
