05/15/2013
The second generation pupa-cells in comb space 6 get sealed.
05/08/2013
A new wooden landing board was mounted in front of the HOBOS-colony.
05/07/2013
Three sensors measuring soil moisture (%) in the ground about 30 meters off the HOBOS-colony are now online.

Data reflow
Data reflow (except rain and balance)
04/08/2013
Balance deficit and data stagnation
Data are momentarily not shown but saved and put back to the graphs soon.
The balance is currently switched off for maintenance.
03/13/2013
The balance
The balance had been reset to zero at 10 a.m. We are still looking for the reason of a malfunction (increasing fluctuation of values) but let the data flow go on. The HOBOS-Team will post a message here when the balance will give reliable values again.

Remove Thermocamera
At 11.00 a.m. the thermocamera watching the entrance of the hive was
removed in order to calibrate it. The bees realized this manipulation
even as the hive was not touched they responded with sudden increase
in activity and temperature.
11/13/2012
Sudden increase in total weight of the colony.
A thin metal plate was placed on top of the hive to repel small birds searching for food.
08/03/2012
Varroa treatment using ApiLife Var.
05/30/2012
A quick check of the HOBOS colony.
Only the weight data are influenced for that moment.
05/18/2012
Two small swarms leave the HOBOS-colony in short interval.
05/17/2012
Second swarm leaves the HOBOS-colony.
05/04/2012
First swarm leaves the hive but returns soon after.
04/12/2012
First bees hatch in comb space 6
04/12/2012
Curently no rain data available.
04/03/2012
Cells in comb space 6 almost completely sealed.
04/01/2012
First cells in comb space 6 get sealed.
03/22/2012
Increase in the total weight of the colony
For the first time after the winter an increase in the
total weight of the colony due to the foraging activity of the bees.
03/15/2012
Pollen collection flights and Cell Cleaning
Start of pollen collection flights and final start of cell cleaning behaviour, to be seen as day and night activity in comb space 6.
03/15/2012
Final start of contunous nest heating.
02/25/2012
Preparing the first brood nest
The endoscope in comb space 6 reveals that worker bees begin cleaning the cells and thus preparing the first brood nest in 2012. The temperature dynamics in comb space 6 can be studied under http://www.hobos.de/en/lehrer-schueler-eltern/hobos-live/messwerte.html

Second cleansing flight
Second cleansing flight of the HOBOS bees after the winter. It shall be noticed that other than at the first cleansing flight (on 22.02.2012) here a considerable number of bees did not return to the colony and very likely died outside the hive.

Former bottom put back in place
Former bottom put back in place, sensors, endoscopes and balance switched on again.

Balance and lower endoscope switched off
Balance and lower endoscope switched off, bottom of hive
exchanged. ==> In consequence disturbance of the winter cluster.
